— Experience Umami —
An educational movie about the fifth taste, umami, made in collaboration with Andrea Boeckaerts.
Umami, the Japanese word for savory, is one of the five flavors. It was pinpointed by Japanese chemist and food lover Kikunae Ikeda in the 1900s. The chemist noticed this unfamiliar taste that could not be described by one of the four taste categories while
eating a bowl of dashi (seaweed soup).
This project gives insight into the perception of the 5 tastes and more specifically umami. It also gives an in depth view about how the human body experiences umami.

Various foods consumed on a daily basis has the savory umami taste. Layering such food enhances and intensifies this taste.
